The Making of a 36 Inch Shipmate “ One Design”

All the relevant documents relating to the CLASS RULES and BUILDING SPECIFICATIONS, MEASUREMENT FORM AND TOLERANCES and DRAWINGS for the 36 Inch Shipmate Class including its HISTORY and notes on the relevant RULE CHANGES over the years, together with HOW TO ORDER a craft and NOTES ON CONSTRUCTION, ASSEMBLY RIGGING NOTES and RADIO INSTALLATION

Because the class rules are strict one has to build within certain tolerances. Measuring positions - cross widths and angles are all essential ingrediants to making a successful boat

The photo albulm above shows the ORIGINAL DRAWINGS & CONSTRUCTION NOTES when the class was launched way back in 1990. Many of these drawings have been superceded or amended but they have not changed substantially in over 25 odd years.

Old boats properly rigged with a good suit of sails in the hands of a competent person is still capable of winning races today. DO NOT IMPLY ANYTHING FROM THESE PHOTOGRAPHS - They are shown here for information purposes only
