The Rules are there to avoid  Awkward situations .... Like this !

Big Boat Sailing and small Radio Sailing boats apply the SAME RULES, with a few modifications that can be found in Appendix E - Radio Controlled Boat Racing.


When you join a club and if you want to sail Provincial or National Regattas you have to become a member of SAS ( South African Sailing) and basically you get given a “Free” Rules Book as part of the deal. We suggest you READ IT !!


There are hundreds of videos on You Tube that cover this subject as well as on the internet.


On a pratical level newcomers to the sport need not be overwhelmed.

There are surprisingly few BASIC RULES which are simple to learn and these are Illustrated below. Feel free to discuss this with a club member who will be willing to coach you as to what to do and why?
